Rat Trap Bond

This is similar to Flemish Bond, but the bricks are laid on-edge, so the lap is ⅓-brick

The cavity provides a natural temperature-control, and so this bond is popular in India



Since it is built from soldiers, it is not suitable for buildings higher than 3-storeys

However, re-inforcing rods can be used for stablity

The following examples show the bonding at a quoin,
a stopped-end and for common junctions
