Squint Quoins
Where the corner, or quoin, a building is formed by two walls meeting at an angle other than a right angle, specially shaped bricks are required at the external angle
To prepare the cutting mould where the angle is greater than a right angle, or obtuse, cut a piece of board to the shape of a brick in plan
and square-off a line from this point
Cut away the two corners, and the result is the required mould as shown by the shaded portion in Fig. 23b
There can be no hard and fast method of arranging the bond at these angles, but the craftsman who has schooled himself in the principles previously defined and studied the given examples, should experience no difficulty in devising suitable arrangements of bond for any angle he may be required to set out.

Mark off from one corner, 2¼" or ¼-brick, along the stretcher face, and draw a line from this point at the required angle, say 45°. Measure 2¼" along this line,Fig. 23b - Volume 4, page 162
and square-off a line from this point
