This animation demonstrates the bonding for a 1-brick wide internal corner in English Bond

Notice the Queen Closer next to the Quoin header, which generates the ¼-lap
Actually, it is good practice to lay all the facing bricks,
and then fill in the back, on the stretcher courses

So here's another drawing...

  1. The strength of a brick wall depends on the bricks and mortar as well as the bond. In the past, English was seen as the strongest, due to the number of headers, whilst Flemish was deemed to be more aesthetically pleasing. But, nowadays, due to the consistent strength of cement, there is actually little difference in the strength of these bonds.

So the answer to 'which bond is best' would have to be concerned with other factors like design or economics

    Hope this helps
